Fun in the Sun with Wine and Lace at a Potomac Winery wedding in Stafford, VA
Weddings By Lee is located just outside of Washington, D.C. and shoots weddings up and down the East Coast.
If you love great wine and a venue that offers endless areas of breathtaking photo opportunities, then look no further. I’ve photographed weddings at Potomac Winery in Stafford, VA several times and they offer that and more.
To start the day, the bride and her girls will be getting ready in a private room with a wrought iron balcony over looking a sun drenched patio and the rolling hills of the winery. The groom and his boys on the other hand will be getting ready in the wine cellar in a private tasting room surrounded by stacks of wine barrels.
The walk for the wedding party starts with a short stroll down a candle lit hall cut through the wine cellar resembling a castle tunnel. This allows for a moment of reflection and the anticipation of what is to come. The doors open and your eyes squint for a second but quickly adjust to reveal the beautiful walk down the middle of the vineyard to the ceremony site. Perfectly placed with the sun to your guest back and looking onto a wooded backdrop your guest will have a stunning view of the ceremony.
After the “I Do’s”, first kiss and all the photos the newly married couple and all their guests make their way back to the reception hall where the bride and groom will prepare for the next event. It’s not the speeches, it’s not the first dance and it’s not the introductions but the groom will be rolling up his pants and the bride will be hiking up her dress and stepping into a wine barrel full of grapes to do a traditional wine stomping ceremony. After a short break to clean up the bride and groom enter the ballroom with floor to ceiling windows with stunning views of the sun setting over the vineyard to finish off the night.
So if that sounds like fun to you then look no further.
